• Have adequate equipment, supplies, skills & knowledge for the whole journey
• Consider the impact of weather forecasts, park/track closures & fire dangers
• Can respond to emergencies & call for help at any point
• Are healthy and fit enough for this journey
If not, change plans and stay safe. It is okay to delay and ask people for help.

	Start. Then cross the bridge (about 580 m long) Then to find the car park. Then pass the sign (30 m on your left). After another 125 m head through/around the gate.
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. Side trip to the Kooragang Wetlands Information Centre. To start this optional side trip veer left here. On returning from this side trip turn left when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 400 m turn right.
	Continue another 160 m to find the end. Then turn around here and retrace the main route for 690 m to get back to the start.

	Start. After 75 m pass the "Kooragang Wetlands Information Centre" (10 m on your right). Then pass the car park (on your left).
	After another 8 m come to the end. Turn around and retrace your steps back the 85 m to the main route.

  The Welcome Mangrove Walk of Ash Island, Hunter Wetlands NP is closed due to damage, from Monday 26th August until further notice.
  Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, contact the local NPWS Shortland office on 4946 4100.
  
  Safety alerts: Periodic closures of Tomago Precinct for deer control shooting operation
  Parts of Hunter Wetlands National Park may be closed within a date range of 6:30am Monday 5th August 2024 to 11:00pm Monday 30th June 2025 for deer control shoot operations preventing localised economic impacts and protecting biodiversity assets within the park.
  
  When active the shoot operation area will be delineated by signage advising visitors “do not enter” at any time during the night time operation.
