Getting started
From the boarding house dam picnic area, this walk follows the track gently up timber steps, keeping the very large tree stump and dam on your right. This walk follows the track (with a concrete dam on the right) for about 45m, before descending gently on a track and timber steps for about 30m, until coming to a three-way intersection, with a track (on the left) and footbridge (on the right).....

The picnic area is surrounded by a wide, sleepy creek that has been widened by the dam. There are a number of sheltered picnic tables, barbeques, a toilet, and water (treat water before use - water maybe unavailable). The dam was built in 1952 for fire fighting and recreational use. The area was established in the 1850s as a logging camp, as part of the Barnier Timber Lease. Now it is a great picnic area,
	After another 85 m turn left. After another 205 m come to "Moss Wall". Moss Wall This 120m-long stretch of moss-covered rock wall overlooks Boarding House Creek (close to Watagans Forest Rd) and is well worth the walk. The moss wall and surrounding creek side is an enchanting spot to explore, particularly on a hot summer's day. Turn around here and retrace the main route for 310 m to get back to the start.

  Some parts of this park are closed from Wednesday 7 May to Friday 9 May for emergency repairs to a section of Watagan Forest Road. The closed areas are:

  Other planned events: Notice of 1080 aerial baiting program
  NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program from Sunday 11th May 2025 to Sunday 18th May 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.
  The program will take place in Popran, Brisbane Water and Watagans National Parks.
  The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
  Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
  Landlords, please notify tenants or visitors to your property of the proposed operation.
